MFW: PRADA SPRING 2014
Miuccia Prada's collection is
consistently one of the most theatrical and inventive shows at Milan Fashion
Week and todays revelation was just as expected. Prada’s Spring 2014 collection was electric, fun, with an
edge of prep.
Miuccia Prada
delivered a colourful and alluring Spring 2014 collection which caught the eye
of all. Electric brights (reds, yellows, and blues) and military greens were
favoured in Prada’s collection revealed today. Hockey socks, rubber shoes, and
sportswear separates gave the collection a sports luxe feel.
The designer
holds a long-standing mission to merge feminism with fashion. She was quoted
after the show saying that the collection ‘was about the strength of women’.
This idea was incorporated into her designs for Spring 2014 with bra designs
emblazoned onto tees and dresses. Catching the eye of all over social
networking sites, Prada’s collection was collectively renamed ‘Brada’.
The impressive murals
which covered Prada’s show space were projected onto Prada’s designs. Key
pieces, involving these abstract faces, included v-neck dresses and Spring fur
coats. Although eye-catching, a personal highlight was an electric royal blue
coat with intricate embellishments, a statement piece within Prada’s SS14
collection.
Electric
colours, embellishments, and abstract murals accurately describe Miuccia
Prada’s Spring 2014 collection.

J.W. ANDERSON SPRING 2014
J. W. Andersons
Spring 2014 collection is to die for. Inspired by Japanese trends, the
collection revealed today is uniquely modern.
Backstage,
Jonathon Anderson explained that he ‘"wanted to juxtapose opposing
fabrics; mix pleather with leather, cotton with nylon, and silk with polyester". And that he did. This mix of fabrics and
materials is, for me, what makes his collection uniquely brilliant. As other
designers have this season, Jonathon Anderson experimented with sheer, both black
and white; certainly not a collection for the shy.
The collection
revealed today was unique and could be deemed experimental. Leather tees were
beautifully corrugated whilst others involved origami which enabled 3D
silhouettes.
The collections
colour palette consisted of crisp whites, sleek black, and mahogany brown. Not
your conventional Spring colours, but I have to say, are right up my street.
The collection
revealed today has certainly cemented the young designer’s position-only in his
twenties, he is an inspiration for all.
Corrugated
leathers, 3D silhouettes, and beautifully clean lines accurately describe J.W.
Anderson’s Spring 2014 collection.
